Turning North Again

We turn north at Kansas City because, as much as we like Dorothy and her friends, we just don't want to spend three days driving through flat wheat fields. And this was a good thing we headed toward Lincoln, Nebraska.  John discovered the Strategic Air Command has a museum near Ashland, NE.  If you're any kind of aviation buff, put this one your bucket list.

Three ABMs on the front lawn, and there's an SR-71 hanging inside the front door and a largely eclectic collection inside ranging from a B-17, through three Lunar Landing capsules, and one Soviet MiG.  They even squeezed what John considers the icon of the SAC in there: a real B-52.  We spent a couple hours and it wan't enough time to absorb it all, really.

Two days in that area found time for a bit more wine and contemplating nature, like this turkey who wandered through the campground totally unaware that, in some parts of this world, it's hunting season.

It's still April and, despite the slight elevation change, we really came West to find craggy peaks.  We're not that far away.
